Inventor's Story

Ron Pritchett has been a PGA Golf Professional for over thirty years. He was the Director of Golf at a private country club on Long Island, New York, for over twelve years. When the country club was sold to an investment group, Ron decided to move back to his home town in Georgia.

After a couple of years, he decided to pick up his family and move to California to develop a new type of golf shaft that could be used for putting. While working on that project, he came up with a new idea for stopping the yips in putting, which evolved into the Bermuda Triangle Putter.

"I had watched a well know player twist his putter during a tournament while making his putting stroke," states Ron. "That made me think about how I could stop a putter from the twisting and turning during the putting stroke. So I started working on my idea of making the connection on top of the putter head wider. Soon I came up with the Triangle connection. I then had it patented."

Ron had quite a struggle financially for the first few years in California, but he was determined to make his idea work. "I knew, from an engineering standpoint, working with my father as a land surveyor, that it had to work," says Ron. "I knew I just needed to keep going with it. I have now sold thousands of these putters just my garage."

At first, Ron designed the triangle open in the center. When he found out it could not be USGA approved, he had to come up with a new idea. He then designed the putter with the middle filled in, and it was approved by the USGA.

Ron and his wife, Nancy, named their company Ashdon Golf, after their two children Ashley and Brandon. He is now developing other golf clubs that he believes are just from common sense with a little engineering ability. Blakney Boggs, LPGA Golf Professional, believes as well as Ron that, "This triangle putter is going to revolutionize the putting game."
